BMW M3 & M4 (F80 / F82) Wheel Fitment Guide: Offsets, Sizes & Specs
· Tony Song
Quick answer
The BMW F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4 (2014–2020, including Competition and CS) use a 5×120 bolt pattern, a 72.6 mm centre bore and M14×1.25 wheel bolts torqued to 140 Nm. The factory 19-inch setup is 19x9 ET29 with 255/35R19 at the front and 19x10 ET40 with 275/35R19 at the rear. The most popular upgrade is a square 19x10 ET25 all round, which also clears the carbon-ceramic brakes.

These ranges assume factory ride height and alignment. The M4 GTS and some special editions left the factory on different sizes, so check your placard.
Brake clearance: standard vs carbon ceramic
The standard M Compound brakes (blue calipers) clear 18-inch wheels, which was the factory base size. The M Carbon ceramic brakes (gold calipers) need 19 inches minimum. Spoke shape matters too, so we check every design against your brake package.
Before you order wheels for an F80 or F82
- ✓Bolts: 60° conical-seat M14×1.25. Forged wheels often have a thicker mounting face than factory, so check the bolt length. We supply the correct bolts.
- ✓Hub fit: wheels bored to 72.6 mm fit the hub directly, with no rings needed.
- ✓TPMS: move your factory sensors across, or have new ones coded.
- ✓Alignment: get an alignment after fitting, especially with a square setup.
Is it road-legal in Victoria?
Victorian rules
Under VSB 14, the national modification code, the wheel track (the distance between the left and right wheels) can grow by up to 25 mm (about 12.5 mm per side) over the widest factory option. VicRoads also limits the overall tyre diameter to 15 mm more than the largest factory size, and the tyres must stay covered by the guards. Flush and aggressive setups can go past these limits and may need a VASS certificate. We'll tell you where your setup sits before you order.
F80 M3 and F82 M4 wheel fitment FAQs
What offset fits an F80 M3?
For a flush staggered setup, ET25–30 on a 19x9.5 front and ET35–40 on a 19x10.5 rear. For a square setup, 19x10 ET25 all round is the go-to.
Do the F80 M3 and F82 M4 use the same wheels?
Yes. They share the 5×120 hub, 72.6 mm bore and factory sizes, so wheels swap directly.
Do G80 M3 wheels fit an F80?
No. The G80 and G82 use 5×112 with a 66.5 mm bore. Fitting their wheels to an F80 would need adapters.
Can I run 18-inch wheels with carbon-ceramic brakes?
No. The carbon-ceramic brakes need 19-inch wheels at minimum.
