The Audi RS3 8Y Fitment Guide

· Tony Song

Quick answer

The Audi RS3 8Y (2021 on, Sportback and Sedan) uses a 5×112 bolt pattern, a 57.1 mm centre bore and M14×1.5 wheel bolts. Unusually, it comes from the factory with wider wheels and tyres at the front: 19x9 ET25 with 265/30R19 front and 19x8 ET46 with 245/35R19 rear.

Setup Front Rear Tyres (F / R) What to expect
Factory 19x9 ET25 19x8 ET46 265/30R19 / 245/35R19 Wider at the front, with the rear sitting well inside the guard
Flush 19x9.5 ET20 19x9 ET42 265/30R19 / 245/35R19 Keeps the factory tyre layout. Lowered cars may need a 3 mm front spacer.
Square 19" 19x9 ET42 + 20 mm spacer 19x9 ET42 245/35R19 or 255/35R19 Rotate tyres. The spacer brings the front out to the factory position.
Track 18" 18x9.5 ET41 + 20 mm spacer 18x9.5 ET41 265/35R18 all round Clears the factory steel brakes. Popular for track days.

These ranges assume factory ride height and alignment unless noted. A custom forged wheel can use different front and rear offsets, so you get a square look without spacers.

Why the RS3 has wider tyres at the front

Audi fits 265-section tyres at the front for more front-end grip, with 245s at the rear. Many owners keep that layout. Others go square so they can rotate tyres, which suits cars that do track days. Either way, keep tyres matched across each axle and replace them at least in pairs, because all-wheel-drive systems work best when tyre diameters stay consistent.

Before you order wheels for an RS3

  • ✓Hub rings: needed for wheels bored bigger than 57.1 mm. Custom forged wheels can be bored to exactly 57.1 mm.
  • ✓Bolts: spacers and thicker forged wheel faces both need longer bolts. Use the length and seat type your wheels specify.
  • ✓Brakes: if your car has the carbon-ceramic option, tell us. 18-inch designs may need a small spacer.
  • ✓TPMS: move your factory sensors across, or have new ones registered.

Is it road-legal in Victoria?

Victorian rules

Under VSB 14, the national modification code, the wheel track (the distance between the left and right wheels) can grow by up to 25 mm (about 12.5 mm per side) over the widest factory option. VicRoads also limits the overall tyre diameter to 15 mm more than the largest factory size, and the tyres must stay covered by the guards. Flush and aggressive setups can go past these limits and may need a VASS certificate. We'll tell you where your setup sits before you order.

Audi RS3 8Y wheel fitment FAQs

What offset fits an Audi RS3 8Y?

For a flush staggered setup, ET20 on a 19x9.5 front and ET42 on a 19x9 rear. The factory offsets are ET25 front and ET46 rear.

Can I run a square setup on an RS3?

Yes. A 19x9 ET42 all round works with a 20 mm front spacer, or a custom wheel with a different front offset so you don't need spacers. Use 245/35R19 or 255/35R19 tyres on all four corners.

Do 8V RS3 wheels fit the 8Y?

They share the 5×112 / 57.1 mm hub, so they bolt on. Offsets and brake clearance differ, so check before fitting.

Do I need hub-centric rings on an RS3?

Yes, for any wheel bored bigger than 57.1 mm. Without rings, the wheel can vibrate at speed.
